Hawaiian Cruises |
||||||||
There are two main types of Hawaiian cruises. The first is to cruise across the Pacific Ocean leaving from the West coast on the US, and the second is to fly round trip to Hawaii and cruise the islands for either 7 days or 10 days (10 day cruises include a trip to Fanning Island).
If you're considering a Hawaiian Cruise I strongly recommend taking a flight to Hawaii and cruising the islands. Since the whole point of cruising Hawaii is to see the scenery and take land tours and excursions, what's the point of floating around in the Pacific Ocean for days on end with nothing to see?
The answer to that question is both yes and no. Yes a Hawaiian Cruise is a great way to get a taste of the islands because you'll get a chance to visit one island per day and you cruise at night aboard your ship. This saves the hassles of inter-island travel and you'll have most of your food and drink bill covered aboard the ship.
And no, a Hawaiian Cruise isn't for everyone. There are limitations on the amount of time that you spend on each island (daylight hours only then back to the sip for dinner), the accommodations on a cruise aren't anywhere near as nice as a luxury hotel and you're locked into eating onboard the ship and can't take advantage of Hawaii's world class dining experiences.
Like most travel plans to Hawaii, finding a good deal on a cruise to Hawaii is a matter of timing and doing your homework about what type of trip you want to take.
The cheapest cruise deals to the Islands can be had during
the slower months of November through February excluding holidays. The
best time to go on a Hawaiian Cruise is during the summer and early fall
when Hawaii gets the least amount of rain, but it can also be the most
expensive.
